Several shooters from Mindanao gathered for the 2nd City Director PSSUPT Maximo C Layugan Cup, a Level 1 PSMOC sanctioned match held at GSCPO firing range at Camp Fermin Lira Jr., General Santos City in the 11th day of June.

The said event was the first sanctioned match in Region 12 since the election gun ban emposed by the government. Most of the shooters were mostly from the policemen and business-affiliated personalities.

Practical Shooting is a set of shooting sports where the competitors are trying to unite the three principles of precision, power and speed, by using a firearm of a certain minimum power (caliber) to score as many points as possible during the shortest amount of time (or sometimes within a set maximum time). Let's take a peek from the event:

Shooters featured in the video were:
 Patrick Ian Vergara, Edgardo Vergara.

UFC fighter John Dodson is set to visit his mother’s homeland from June 23-26.

Coming off an impressive1st round TKO win against Manvel Gamburyan nearly 2 months ago, this Filipino-American fighter is currently ranked #8 in the UFC Bantamweight rankings.

John Dodson fought for the UFC Flyweight championship September last year but lost via unanimous decision against Demetrious Johnson.

Yearly, UFC fighters visit the Philippines as part of the organization’s effort to increase and establish its presence in the Asian region.

The Manila Great Run - 06/12/'16 - Filinvest Alabang

The "Manila Great Run: Duo Road Race Challenge" was held on June 12, 2016 at Filinvest City, Alabang. Race categories includes individual 3k & 5k and the highlight categories which are the challenging twist of 10+5k Individual and the 10+5k team competition.

The Manila Great Run, like what they say, probably is the first one where you can run two sets of races with a recovery period in between. I was really planning on running the Duo Road Race Challenge Individual category 10k + 5k run but due to time and financial constraints, I decided to just skip it and look forward to the next run in my calendar.

This is an unexpected run for me because AJ Seradoy, who happens to write for Powcast, came down with flu on race day itself. I was just informed a night prior to the event that she may not make it but will still try.

Then at around 2am, she called me that I really had to run in her stead because there was a 5k race kit waiting for her in the Powcast tent. So to make it short I was the one who ran for her. Eventhough I was not able to run the 10k + 5k (as what I previously planned ), I'm still glad that I was able to run the 5k category.

In running, everything has to be in sync. Body and mind has to be as one because running one without the other is like running on just one foot. Even though I can run anytime on a short notice, but since my mind was not really set on running today, I had some challenges. Still, nothing that I
can't handle. "A bad run is better than no run at all." :-)

The event was pretty much well organized, on the average to say the least. They could have done a much better job on the distribution of the finisher shirts, medals and lootbags because there's no line in claiming. The security was great and the roads were very well marked. You wouldn't get lost, with all the turns that the course had. Overall, minus my running buddy, the event was still great!

A big shoutout to Sir Pow and the rest of the Powcast peeps. Thank you for the run!

Here are few other pictures that I took at the event:

Experiencing The First Manila Great Run

The Finisher Medal for the Individual Competition

There's a first for everything. A first for new challenges, new twists, and new distances. In this case, the Manila Great Run.
The first ever Manila Great Run: Duo Road Race Challenge happened on June 12, 2016, at Filinvest City. For a run, it was unique for its kind. Setting apart the Manila Great Run from other events is its new challenge for runners. It involves two legs, and you can choose whether you run those two legs by yourself (Individual Competition) or with a partner (Team Competition. In between legs, runners will get to experience a recovery break.
The experience was a first for me, as well as for the thousands of runners who joined the run. By 4:30 am, most runners had arrived on the grounds of Filinvest. The grounds were full of tents for media, drink, and brand sponsors. Our very own Powcast had a tent in the grounds, for the writers and photographers that participated in the run. Runners flocked to the starting line as the gun time drew nearer. The Individual and Team competitors began their 10k first leg at 5:00.
The road was teeming with variety. There was an abundance of gear riddled runners, old runners, and the veterans who want to challenge their speed. In the road, there were definitely stand-out runners that I noticed. These two African guys seemed to zoom past all the runners on all the turns. There was a man that ran barefoot, on pavement no less. And lastly, there were two Indian guys that made fun of each others speed. Only a few teenagers were present, though.
As I went past the finish line, I received hydration and a lootbag from multiple sponsors. I proceeded to the recovery area and received therapy from "A Game", Manila Great Run's recovery partner. This recovery session is one factor that set apart Manila Great Run. It provides relief for runners before they run another 5k.
As the running went on, a few stops were made at the water stations. Hydration booths provided by Pocari Sweat and Maynilad were present every few kilometers. Soon, I had finished the run at 58 minutes, which was a surprise. I expected a 1:10 from myself, but all runners can agree that less time is better.

After the 10k leg, at the Filinvest Grounds
The second and final leg began at 7:00 am for the Individual Competition, and ten minutes later for the Team Competition. It was a usual thirty-minute run, in which after I crossed the finish line and was greeted by photographers from different blogs and media. Soon after, freebies were grabbed. Finisher medals, finisher shirts, and pictures were taken.
It was an experience in the first, and I'm sure myself and many others would like to experience it the second time it comes around.

Global continues its winning streak against Kaya, for 3-0, and maintains the top spot last Sunday in United Football League at Rizal Memorial Stadium

Ivorian midfielder Serge Kaole and Japanese winger Hikaru Minegishi were on target before an own goal from Kaya defender Masa Omura sealed the victory for coach Leigh Manson’s side, which extended its lead at the top to five points.

The game marks Kaya's second loss of the season after the fall from Stallion on May 15.

Will Global continue to overcome the obstacles ahead of them or will Kaya recover and rise up to the challenge?

Ayesha Curry throws shade on LeBron James following Draymond Green's one-game suspension

$

Ayesha Curry (Wife of Stephen Curry) took the opportunity to go all-out on LeBron James, not holding back after Draymond Green has been suspended in Game 5 of the NBA 2016 Finals.

Ayesha made a statement via twitter, just right after Klay Thompson mocked LeBron having his "feelings hurt" after Draymond Green hit him in Game 4, James just shook it off by saying, "It's so hard to take the high road."

After several hours, Ayesha threw a jab on LeBron with a tweet consisting "High Road," she wrote. "Invisible bridge used to step over said person when open floor is available left to right."

 See the tweet below:

So how will LeBron respond to Ayesha? hmm... Things are getting exciting as the NBA Finals is coming to an end. We'll see after LeBron releases his statement.
